The Role
You will be part of Live Nation’s newest Canadian venue, HISTORY Ottawa. This state‑of‑the‑art venue hosts up to 2,000 guests and more than 180 concerts and private events annually. The Operations Manager works closely with the General Manager and Senior Operations Manager and serves as the main point of contact for event staff during show times, supporting the management team in implementing department operating plans and continuous improvements.
Responsibilities- Work all events as the main point of contact for event staff and escalates issues to senior management.
- Support day‑of‑event execution by maintaining a visible presence on the floor and assisting all event staff departments as needed.
- Coach, correct, and mentor staff as needed.
- Execute staff schedules for event staff, manage availabilities, time‑off requests, and shift changes.
- Participate in the ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Lead and facilitate pre‑shift meetings and communicate operational updates to staff.
- Ensure all staff, operational tools, POS systems, and service areas are prepared and functioning prior to doors.
- Maintain accurate reporting and document management systems as required.
- Ensure adequate coverage in key venue areas.
- Administer verbal warnings and write‑ups as needed.
- Monitor service standards, guest experience, and operational efficiency throughout events.
- Collaborate with security and venue departments to support safe and effective event operations.
- Help resolve guest issues or concerns in a calm and respectful manner.
- Troubleshoot POS systems, handheld devices, and operational equipment as needed.
- Support reporting and tip‑out procedures when required.
- Ensure all departments complete end‑of‑night closing duties and venue standards are maintained before departure.
- Other duties as assigned by senior management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be Smart Serve Certified and at least 19 years of age or older.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar management role.
- Strong strategic thinking and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- French, verbal and written, is an asset.
- Acute sense of judgment, tact and diplomacy.
- A strong sense of teamwork and ability to execute programs.
- Position requires constant walking, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying 50 lbs.+ and occasional sitting.
- Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Compensation: $30 per hour.
Physical Requirements / Work EnvironmentSits for extended periods at a computer or work desk; stands and walks throughout the day; occasionally moves within the office to access file cabinets or office machinery; uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment for up to 8 hours each day; lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; works in a typical office environment.
