The Role

You will have the opportunity to be part of a very special team for Live Nation’s newest Canadian venue, HISTORY Ottawa. A state‑of‑the‑art venue with a capacity of up to 2000 hosting over 180 concerts and private events annually. The Operations Manager acts as direct support to the General Manager and Senior Operations Manager. Working predominantly on the floor during show times, this role is the main point of contact for event staff. The Operations Manager provides support to the management team in creating and implementing department operating and strategic plans for driving continuous improvements throughout the venue leading up to, and during, show time.

Responsibilities
  • Works all events, as the main point contact for event staff, and escalates issues to senior management.
  • Supports day-of-event execution by maintaining a visible presence on the floor and assisting all event staff departments as needed.
  • Coaches, corrects, and mentors staff as needed.
  • Executes staff schedules for event staff. Manages availabilities, time off requests and shift changes.
  • Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Leads and facilitates pre-shift meetings and communicates operational updates to staff.
  • Ensures all staff, operational tools, POS systems, and service areas are prepared and functioning prior to doors.
  • Maintains accurate reporting, and documents management systems as required.
  • Ensures adequate coverage in key venue areas.
  • Administers verbal warnings and writes up as needed.
  • Monitors service standards, guest experience, and operational efficiency throughout events.
  • Collaborates with security and venue departments to support safe and effective event operations.
  • Helps resolve guest issues or concerns in a calm and respectful manner.
  • Troubleshoots POS systems, handheld devices, and operational equipment as needed.
  • Supports reporting, and tip‑out procedures when required.
  • Ensures all departments complete end‑of‑night closing duties and venue standards are maintained before departure.
  • Other duties as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be Smart Serve Certified and at least 19 years of age or older.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar management role.
  • Strong strategic thinking and creative problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • French, verbal and written an asset.
  • Acute sense of judgment, tact and diplomacy.
  • A strong sense of teamwork and ability to execute programs.
  • Position requires constant walking, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. and occasional sitting.
  • Available to work weekends, evenings, holidays.

The expected compensation for this position in Ontario is: $30 per hour.
