Canada Development Investment Corporation (CDEV) is a self-sustaining federal Crown corporation that is the entity of choice for critical financial transactions needed to help the federal government achieve its goals and maximize the value of its corporate assets. With a more than 40-year history of operations, CDEV has seen its mandate expand significantly in the last three years to provide a breadth of financial and commercial advisory services and execution expertise to support Canada’s broader economic objectives.

CDEV acts as a bridge between government objectives and the private sector. It serves as the Government’s centre of excellence for financial and commercial advisory, as well as transaction execution. Additionally, CDEV leverages its deep private sector experience and commercial discipline, on behalf of the government, to undertake strategic reviews and value creation assessments of Crown assets; to design, stand-up and ope rationalise new programs;

and to actively manage the CDEV group of companies.

This is a rare opportunity to step out of a purely transactional role and into a national leadership mandate at the intersection of finance, strategy, and public policy. As Vice President, Execution & Advisory, you will be entrusted with shaping and executing some of Canada’s most complex and high-profile financial initiatives, spanning M&A, capital markets, structured finance, and program design, while advising senior leadership, the Board and Government.

Unlike traditional advisory roles, this position offers true ownership: the ability to set strategy, oversee execution, and see outcomes through from conception to impact. For an ambitious investment banking, corporate development or advisory professional, it is a chance to leverage deep technical expertise while broadening your influence across governance, risk, policy, and national economic priorities. Few roles in Canada offer this level of scope, visibility, and ability to deliver impact at scale.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and agile leader with deep expertise in capital markets and corporate finance, honed through hands‑on experience in investment banking, M&A advisory, equity and debt financing and / or corporate development. They excel in navigating complex transactions and financial structures, delivering clarity and results in high‑stakes, multi‑stakeholder environments. With a track record of leading strategic advisory mandates and full‑cycle deal execution, including diligence and negotiation, across buy‑side, sell‑side, and refinancing mandates, the successful candidate will have experience with carve‑outs, distressed assets and strategic acquisitions and divestitures and be adept at financial and transaction structuring leveraging a full suite of investment instruments.

The successful candidate combines analytical rigour with commercial insight and communicates with precision and influence across public and private sectors.

The selected candidate will ideally be based in either Toronto or Ottawa, where CDEV offices currently operate a hybrid work option. However, highly skilled and suitably experienced candidates based elsewhere in Canada may also be considered.
