Pro Slide Project Accountant – Ottawa, ON

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Project Accountant supports Pro Slide’s global water slide business by owning project reporting, full‑cycle accounts receivable, and key day‑to‑day accounting activities. This is a highly cross‑functional role – you’ll be deeply involved in the business and the projects that bring world‑class attractions to life, partnering closely with Project Managers to maintain forecasts, deliver accurate and timely financial data, and provide clear variance analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Own the accuracy of project financial data feeding into monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across our global water slide business.
  • Input and analyze project budgets prepared by the costing team, ensuring they’re reflected correctly in project reporting and forecasts.
  • Partner closely with Project Managers – meeting regularly to review purchase orders, actual cost, and remaining costs – to keep project forecasts current and margins visible throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review project financials for cost accuracy and correct allocation issues to ensure clean, reliable reporting.
  • Prepare monthly accruals and update forecasts as needed to recognize revenue under the percentage‑complete method.
  • Monitor budget vs. actual performance and deliver clear variance analysis that highlights drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Participate in recurring project meetings and serve as a go‑to finance resource for your assigned projects, bringing clarity, context, and actionable insights.
  • Lead full‑cycle Accounts Receivable for projects, including:
    • Issuing customer invoices based on billing milestones and ongoing alignment with Project Managers
    • Actively managing collections and keeping stakeholders informed on outstanding receivables
    • Feeding AR updates into rolling cash flow forecasts to support visibility and planning
  • Support the monthly calculation, filing, and remittance of U.S. Sales & Use taxes.
  • Complete month‑end deliverables within established timelines and contribute to a smooth, on‑time close.
  • Jump into special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed, bringing a practical, business‑focused finance lens.
Qualifications
  • College education in Finance or Accounting. University degree an asset.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in project accounting, financial accounting, or a project‑focused finance role.
  • Proven experience supporting project budgeting/forecasting, including budget. actual tracking and variance analysis with non‑finance stakeholders.
  • Hands‑on experience with month‑end close activities (accruals, reconciliations, analysis) and working to firm deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of revenue recognition in a project environment.
  • Experience owning or supporting full‑cycle Accounts Receivable, including invoicing tied to milestones, collections follow‑up, and cash‑flow inputs.
  • Exposure to a multi‑currency and/or international environment and collaborating across teams/time zones is an asset.
  • Experience with Sales & Use tax (U.S. exposure is an asset) or a willingness to learn quickly.
  • Strong Excel skills (comfortable working with large datasets, reconciliations, and building clear reporting/analysis). Experience with an ERP/accounting system is preferred (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, MS Dynamics, Sage).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, partner cross‑functionally, and translate financial information into insights.

Compensation and Benefits
