Treasurer (CPA) $100M Endowment Project

The Siraj Charitable Foundation is embarking on a transformative journey. We are launching a $100 million project dedicated to creating housing projects as endowments that support the sustainability of Islamic education across Canada.

To steward this vision, we are seeking an exceptional CPA Treasurer to join our leadership team.

As Treasurer, you will be the financial guardian of a legacy project. You won't just be managing books; you will be overseeing a team of accountants, meeting with Muslim financial experts, as well as presenting to major donors ensuring that every dollar is positioned to create a lasting impact.

• Professional Designation:
  Active CPA in good standing (Must).
• Experience:
  
  A minimum of 7 years in accounting, bookkeeping, and corporate taxes.
• Scale:
  Proven track record in bookkeeping and financial management for firms or projects exceeding $70 million.
• Sector Knowledge:
  Experience with medium-to-large Registered Charities is highly desirable.

• Sharia Compliance:
  This is a critical metric for this role. The successful candidate will oversee financial structures and investment strategies to ensure they adhere to Sharia principles.
• The Ideal Candidate:
  While we do not expect you to be a scholar in Islamic finance, you must possess a deep commitment to these standards. We value a humble expert who is a master of Canadian accounting and tax law, but who approaches the specific requirements of Sharia‑compliant finance, and engages with Muslim scholars and islamic finance experts with diligence and respect.

• Oversee the financial lifecycle of a $100M endowment fund.
• Ensure rigorous compliance with CRA regulations for registered charities.
• Manage corporate tax filings and complex bookkeeping.
• Provide strategic counsel to the Board on long-term financial sustainability.
• Must be able to come to Ottawa on a monthly basis.
