15 Month Contract Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of MD Financial Management/Regulatory Reporting in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Reconciliation Analyst is responsible for the timely and accurate reconciliation of MD’s cash and general ledger accounts in strict compliance with Bank standards and regulatory requirements. They are responsible to research and resolve any outstanding unresolved items and elevate potential risk to management. They are required to give a high degree of customer support to internal departments (such as Resolution team, Account transfers team, Trade centre).

Reconciliation Analysts must possess very good knowledge of the products and systems relating to the transactions and accounts being reconciled, as they work under tight deadlines.

Accountabilities
  • Responsible for production and analysis of dealer, fund manager, discretionary manager, and life company daily general ledger and bank account reconciliations for all R‑Broker and R‑Funds accounts and related journal entries.
  • Research and provide solutions to general ledger and bank accounts reconciliation unresolved items.
  • Prepare journal entries to clear accounts.
  • Produce monthly regulatory reports for each general ledger account and calculate the margin total in the CIRO (Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization) regulatory report.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper accounting for client‑related transactions; understand both departmental and client needs.
  • Assist with audit requests and regulatory reporting.
  • Escalate all irregularities/improprieties promptly.
  • Communicate with various banks when banking issues arise.
  • Recommend and suggest reconciliation process improvements.
  • Document reconciliation process to facilitate cross‑training and integration of new team members.
  • Identify areas of concern and propose solutions.
  • Provide training, backup and assistance for all new team members.
  • Support all reconciliations for MD dealers and fund manufacturers (Canada).
  • Reconcile as part of Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) and OSC requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to condense large amounts of transactional information into a concise solution/report.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, written and oral communication skills.
  • Team player capable of working autonomously with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve most problems independently, yet willing to escalation larger issues as needed.
Education / Experience / Other Information
  • College Accounting Diploma or university degree with Accounting or Finance major.
  • High level of technical expertise with various software packages – proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of R‑Broker and R‑Funds.
  • Experience with reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of Alteryx application (considered an asset).
  • Enrollment in the CPA Program (considered an asset).
