Position: Export Compliance Coordinator )

Export Compliance Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Prepare export permit applications, re-export authorizations and other authorization requests for internal review and submission; keep records related to such applications; and update and renew export permits as required.
  • Liaise with various internal and external parties to facilitate the export process and address any issues that arise.
  • Review and approve shipments for export and ensure all export documents meet applicable legal requirements.
  • Maintain records and submit reports relating to exports as required by any government regulatory agencies (GAC, BIS, etc.).
  • Ensure that Company registrations and renewals with government regulatory agencies for the various programs related to export control are completed in a timely manner.
  • Review consulting contracts for compliance with export control regulations.
  • Work with the Company’s Controlled Goods and Security Specialist to evaluate and enhance the Company’s Controlled Goods Security Plans and Procedures.
  • Maintain and update the Export Control and Security SharePoint site and Shared Folders.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the administration of an Export Compliance Program.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the Canadian Export and Import Permits Act and the Defence Production Act.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of U.S. export control regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations.
  • Attentive to detail and possess strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong writing skills required to convey information clearly, concisely and accurately.
  • Able to prioritize and handle workload volume, often requiring quick turn‑around.
  • Capable of following manager’s directions and/or instructions and working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Effective interaction with employees, customers, and contractors.
  • Displays a high degree of initiative, discretion, and integrity.
  • High proficiency with MS Word, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro and other technical tools and applications.
Decision Making & Supervision
  • Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors to develop creative and workable solutions.
  • Exercises independent judgment in planning, scheduling, organizing, controlling and monitoring activities.
  • Exercises initiative and sound judgment in adapting procedures to address unusual situations and resolve conflicts.
  • Does not exercise any direct supervision.
