The House of Commons Administration delivers outstanding services to Members of Parliament and their employees in support of parliamentary democracy. Our success is made possible by our talented and dedicated workforce. We leverage diversity in all its forms and recognize that everyone has valuable contributions to make and the potential for individual growth. If you dream of joining an organization that is small enough for you to be noticed, but big enough to provide you with a meaningful career, then we want to hear from you!

The House of Commons Procedural Services is currently looking to staff the Deputy Principal Clerk (without Table Duty) position.

This recruitment and selection process is restricted to the House of Commons Administration employees and parliamentary partners.

Deputy Principal Clerks act as front-line managers in overseeing the work of the various Branches within Procedural Services (House Proceedings, Committees and Legislative Services, International and Interparliamentary Affairs and Parliamentary Information), including hiring professional and support staff, engaging in collective bargaining, and ensuring training opportunities and the professional development of their teams.

You will also be responsible for providing expert information and advice, as well as specialized administrative, research and logistical support services related to parliamentary and legislative activities.

In collaboration with other Deputy Principal Clerks, you will actively contribute to managing all activities within Procedural Services, including the frequent redeployment of professional employees, thereby enabling them to gain a wide range of experience throughout their careers.

Deputy Principal Clerks also act as representatives of the Procedural Services management team on a variety of corporate working groups and steering committees.

You can be assigned to any one of several positions within Procedural Services and must be prepared to be reassigned at any time, sometimes on short notice, due to operational requirements.

This position offers a hybrid work option, with no pre-determined number of telework days per week. On-site presence will be determined by operational needs and the specific duties associated with the role.

Through this recruitment and selection process, a position may, if needed, be staffed on a fixed term, and, in addition, a pool of candidates may be created.
