Senior Access to Information and Privacy; ATIP Officer

RoleSenior Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Officer – Corporate Secretariat Branch, Ottawa. Classification AS-4, Continuing tenure, Bilingual CBC/CBC requirement.
Responsibilities- Provide services in all areas related to the administration of the Access to Information and Privacy Acts.
- Ensure the NRC meets its statutory obligations regarding ATIP legislation.
- Work closely with the ATIP Manager and Coordinator on all files and coordinate completion of requests.
- Process complex ATIP requests, develop and implement processes and procedures, and prepare files for compliance.
- Respond to complaints from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the Office of the Information Commissioner.
- Lead projects such as enhancements to the ATIP electronic case management system and training activities.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. - Formal training in ATIP legislation and policies is considered an asset.
- Recent and significant experience interpreting and applying ATIP legislation in a government context.
- Experience providing advice and guidance to senior management on ATIP.
- Experience reviewing and updating procedures and guidelines for ATIP administration.
- Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders, partners and clients.
- Significant experience defined as a minimum of three (3) years.
Secret Clearance with a thorough security clearance process. Verification of background information over a 10-year period and sufficient Canadian residency are required.
Language RequirementsBilingual Imperative CBC/CBC.
Assessment Criteria Technical Competencies- Knowledge of ATIP legislation, TBS guidelines, policies and procedures, and the role of the Information Commissioner.
- Knowledge of Privacy legislation, TBS guidelines, policies and procedures, and the role of the Privacy Commissioner.
- Knowledge of Government of Canada structures, organizational entities and decision‑making processes.

Annual salary: $78,167 to $91,895. Bilingualism Bonus: $800 per year.
