Community Occupational Therapist – Ottawa, ON. CBI Health is Canada’s leading community healthcare provider, with 13,000 staff delivering rehabilitation and home care services across 250+ locations to support clients in achieving their health goals.
CBI Health’s Community Rehabilitation Services treat clients who’ve experienced mental stress injuries and motor vehicle accidents, focusing on a return to pre-accident function. In the Traumatic Psychological Injury program, Occupational Therapists work with clients such as first responders who’ve experienced workplace trauma. The role may include in-vivo exposure therapy, behavioural activation, trauma processing, coping, and return to function, using evidence-based approaches and innovative interventions like virtual reality to promote mental health outcomes.
Within the Complex Auto program, OTs assess and treat clients with physical (musculoskeletal, orthopaedic), cognitive (TBIs, concussions), and psychosocial impairments related to motor vehicle accidents. The role includes in-home and hospital discharge assessments, ergonomic assessments, concussion treatment, cognitive rehabilitation, mental health treatment, and other interventions to support start-to-finish recovery. Some OTs may specialize in a single area, while others handle a mixed caseload.
Wage range: $42.00–$54.00 per hour.

Responsibilities- Provide occupational therapy services in community settings, including in-home, workplace, and community-based assessments and treatments.
- Conduct in-home and hospital discharge assessments, ergonomic assessments, concussion treatment, cognitive rehabilitation, and mental health interventions as part of comprehensive care.
- Deliver client-centered care across start-to-finish recovery, guiding clients through assessment, treatment planning, intervention, and progress toward goals.
- May work within Traumatic Psychological Injury and/or Complex Auto programs, using appropriate interventions and evidence-based practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and coordinate with clients, families, and stakeholders to support outcomes.
- Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle (travel up to 1–1.5 hours radius)
- Willingness to provide in-vivo OT treatment in clients’ homes, workplaces, and community settings
- Passion for the profession, commitment to ongoing professional development, and dedication to high-quality client care
- Ability to work in a self-directed and independent environment
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, decision-making, and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Empathy and ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders
- Experience in the private sector, particularly with auto sector legislation and mental health, is an asset
