Child Life Specialist at CHEO

Enhance children's hospital experiences in Ottawa as a Child Life Specialist us on therapeutic play, emotional support, and creating developmental plans for patients and families.

CHEO seeks a Child Life Specialist to assess and promote the development of children in pediatric health care. You will work with an inter-professional team to prepare children for medical procedures through therapeutic activities and emotional guidance. This role also involves supervising volunteers and collaborating on child life events and group activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess psychosocial needs of patients and families

• Develop individual treatment plans with the team

• Provide therapeutic play and emotional support

• Organize activity areas and special child life events

• Supervise and liaise with program volunteers

Requirements:

• Baccalaureate in Child Life or related field

• Minimum two years in pediatric health care

• Current Child Life Certification (CCLS)

• Police Record Check (PRC)

• Bilingualism in English/French preferred
