Bruyère Health Saint-Louis Long-Term Care is a 198 bed Long-Term Care (LTC) home with convalescent care, peritoneal dialysis and respite programs situated in a quiet residential neighborhood on a picturesque setting on the edge of the Ottawa river. What would my role be?

Reporting to the Administrator-Director, Bruyère Health Saint-Louis LTC, and working closely with the leadership team, (including the Clinical Manager and the Associate Director of Care), the incumbent is responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the registered nursing staff and unregulated personal care staff of the long-term care home (for assigned home areas and programs), as well as registered paraprofessionals of the long-term care home, and the nursing and personal care provided by them in accordance with the Fixing Long Term Care Act and Regulations.

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the nursing and personal care provided in SLLTC’s clinical programs.
  • Ensuring and promoting the provision of resident-centered care and services to meet the needs of the residents. This includes promoting the opportunities to engage residents/families in their care.
  • Leading investigations and follows through for resident, family or staff concerns and complaints.
  • Ensuring that resident and family needs are addressed and any concerns are handled and brought to the attention of the Administrator, as appropriate.
  • Interpreting and developing a plan that identifies concerns and corrective action plan.
  • Monitoring LTCH’s clinical compliance through audits of the care, assessments, residents’ charts, care plans, eMARs, and electronic documentation.
  • Conducting planned and unplanned inspections and audits.
  • Establishing the goals and objectives for the clinical programs, in collaboration with the team and is accountable for meeting these goals and objectives.
  • Establishes the qualifications, responsibilities and functions for each nursing position according to the various programs and within Bruyère Health policies and collective agreements.
