CHEO Indigenous Health Navigator Position

Join CHEO in Ottawa as an Indigenous Health Navigator, dedicated to aiding Indigenous families in accessing effective healthcare solutions. Your expertise will bridge cultural gaps in service delivery.

As an Indigenous Patient Navigator, you will support First Nations, Inuit, and Métis families by providing culturally competent care coordination. Your responsibilities include removing barriers to health services and enhancing the patient experience through advocacy and education. You will work tirelessly to ensure that Indigenous perspectives are honored in all aspects of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide culturally safe navigation across health services

• Support patients in understanding care plans and options

• Contribute to developing educational resources for staff

• Promote access to traditional healing practices and supports

• Document patient interactions while respecting data privacy

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Social Work, or a related field

• Lived experience with Indigenous populations is essential

• 3 years’ experience in health navigation and advocacy

• Knowledge of anti-racism practices and Indigenous cultural safety

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills for teamwork
