Join CHEO as a Clinical Scientist specializing in molecular laboratory work. This hybrid role focuses on genetic testing, newborn screening, and research collaboration in Ottawa, Ontario.
The position is within the molecular laboratory, where you will play a crucial role in the evaluation of genetic variants from newborn screenings. Collaborate with laboratory leadership and specialists to improve diagnostic workflows. You'll also have opportunities to mentor fellows and participate in quality assurance activities to ensure high standards in pediatric health testing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with molecular lab leadership for workflow improvement
• Evaluate genetic variants and newborn screening outcomes
• Draft diagnostic reports in collaboration with specialists
• Oversee assay development and validation for new methods
• Engage in training of medical students and residents
Requirements:
• PhD or MD with certification in Molecular Genetics
• Knowledge in pediatric disease genetics
• Strong data analytic skills, preferably in programming
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities
• Criminal Record Check (Level
1) required
