Director, Human Resources
Full‑time, Ottawa (onsite).
Position OverviewAt Lumentum, a leader in optical and photonic products, we are seeking a Director, Human Resources to drive people strategy across our business units. You will partner with global teams, translate global business strategy into workforce plans, and serve as the primary HR advisor to senior leaders.
Responsibilities- Own and lead the end‑to‑end people strategy for different business units, acting as the single point of accountability for all HRBP matters.
- Translate global BU strategy into a workforce plan, ensuring alignment across talent, structure, capability, culture, and cost.
- Act as the primary HR advisor to business units, providing strategic counsel on organizational design, talent strategy, succession planning, performance management, and workforce optimization.
- Proactively identify organizational risks and opportunities; recommend and implement solutions aligned to business outcomes.
- Serve as a thought partner to BU leaders on scaling teams, enabling productivity, and building high‑performance cultures.
- Partner closely with the General Manager, VPs, Directors, and senior technical leaders to shape org design, leadership capability, and operating effectiveness.
- Serve as the trusted advisor and coach to leadership, providing candid counsel, data‑driven insights, and pragmatic solutions.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
Experience- HR experience, including 5+ years in a senior HR Business Partner or HR leadership role.
- Proven experience partnering with executive leaders in complex, global, technology‑driven organizations.
- Strong background in organizational design, workforce planning, succession, and leadership development.
- Strategic business partner – Translates business priorities into effective people strategies.
- Executive presence – Trusted advisor who confidently challenges and influences senior leaders.
- Org design & workforce expert – Shapes structure, capability, and scale for performance.
- Leadership coach – Develops senior leaders and high‑potential talent.
