Job Type: Full Time Remote (Hybrid option available for those in the Ottawa area - 55 Murray Street Office)

Total Compensation: CAD $100,000 - $125,000 base salary - Placement within range based on experience and qualifications

Role (Description)

As a Scrum Master, you will play a central role in supporting engineering teams as they create mission‑critical software solutions. You will facilitate agile practices, resolve blockers and foster a culture of continuous growth across multiple teams working on complex analytical and data platform products. Furthermore, you will use your understanding of agile practices to provide meaningful guidance to engineering teams.

You will help scale agile delivery, improve team connections and navigate the nuances of delivering software in the defence and intelligence sectors. Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Connection:
    Guide agile events for multiple engineering teams including daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives and reviews.
  • Support Progress:
    Resolve impediments that prevent teams from achieving their goals and long‑term outcomes.
  • Foster Growth:
    Coach teams on agile principles, fostering self‑organisation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration:

    Support product owners in maintaining well‑groomed backlogs and effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Team Health:
    Track and share team metrics including velocity and team effectiveness to ensure a sustainable pace.
  • Coordination:
    Facilitate cross‑team collaboration and manage dependencies.
  • Advocate for Quality:
    Champion engineering best practices including definition of done and technical debt management.
  • Community Building:
    Support organisational agile transformation by contributing to our agile community of practice. Collaborate with engineering mentors on capacity planning and team well‑being.
Prerequisites
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach supporting software engineering teams.
  • Relevant certifications (CSM, PSM, SAFe, etc.) are a plus.
Core Skills
  • Skilled Facilitator:
    Proven ability to guide productive ceremonies and navigate constructive conversations.
  • Agile Understanding:
    Deep understanding of agile with the ability to adapt practices to the team and organisational context.
  • Flow Management:
    Strong knowledge of Kanban principles and experience with flow‑based delivery models.
  • Mentorship:
    Experience coaching teams through agile adoption and maturity progression.
  • Problem Solving:
    Proven ability to identify and resolve blockers at team and organisational levels.
  • Technical Awareness:
    Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (CI/CD, testing, version control).
  • Data Insight:
    Strong skills in using data and metrics (Jira or similar) to support team health.
  • Communication:
    Outstanding communication skills with the ability to build consensus across stakeholders.
  • Adaptability:
    Ability to work in dynamic environments with shifting priorities.
