Overview
We are seeking an Intermediate SharePoint Online Designer to support a short-term digital transformation initiative. This role focuses on rebuilding and enhancing SharePoint Online sites with a strong emphasis on bilingual (English/French) functionality, user experience, accessibility, and governance. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support designing, configuring, and enhancing SharePoint Online sites using out-of-the-box Microsoft 365 capabilities. The work involves rebuilding a communications site, improving navigation and usability, and ensuring compliance with accessibility and bilingual standards.
Responsibilities- Rebuild and customize SharePoint Online sites with English/French bilingual navigation and content structures
- Design and configure site architecture, permissions, and navigation
- Implement language toggles or equivalent bilingual navigation solutions
- Improve user experience through page design, web parts, and usability enhancements
- Migrate and restructure SharePoint content, including pages and news posts
- Apply governance models and permission controls
- Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
- Test functionality, accessibility, permissions, and mobile responsiveness
Mandatory Qualifications (Required)
- Minimum 1 year (within the last 5 years) working with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint Online, Teams, One Drive, Outlook)
- Minimum 1 year designing, configuring, and customizing SharePoint Online sites
- Minimum 1 year implementing bilingual (English/French) SharePoint Online content and navigation, including:
- Separate English and French content areas
- Language toggle or equivalent navigation mechanism
- Minimum 1 year of SharePoint content migration and governance experience
- Minimum 1 year delivering UX improvements, including accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1)
- Level: Intermediate
- Language Requirement: English Essential (basic oral, written, comprehension)
- Security: Reliability Status required (or eligibility to obtain)
- Work Location: On-site – Ottawa, ON
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (approx. Feb–May 2026)
