Position Summary:
The Digital Marketing Specialist will develop, implement, and track marketing campaigns—utilizing email, web, social media, and data and analytics—to enhance our brand presence, drive engagement, and generate leads across various online channels.
This role independently develops and executes strategic marketing plans to promote key products, services, and events with a focus on corporate sales and association membership marketing support. Excellent project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver impactful marketing efforts on time and within scope are essential for success in this role.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Digital Marketing Strategy & Execution:
Develop and execute comprehensive digital marketing campaigns across various platforms including SEO/SEM, AI/AEO, email, social media, website, and digital advertising for a variety of products and services, including the EDUCAUSE Career Center, conferences and events, and EDUCAUSE membership. - Drive modern SEO excellence to improve organic search rankings, increase website traffic, and enhance overall online visibility.
- Help lead AI/AEO-driven marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility in AI-powered platforms and adapt to the rise of zero-click searches (with managerial direction).
- Create and maintain engaging content for diverse digital channels, such as videos, social media updates, and email communications, ensuring alignment with brand voice and messaging.
- Develop and maintain automated email campaigns to drive engagement, leads, and conversions.
- Launch and optimize online advertisements through platforms like Feathr and Google Ads to increase brand awareness and drive conversions.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance of digital marketing campaigns using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to track KPIs and ROI, providing actionable insights for optimization.
- Monitor, analyze, and report metrics on corporate sponsor, partner, and other third-party packages and benefits.
- Independently collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, writers, and web and content developers, to create landing pages, optimize user experience, and ensure cohesive marketing efforts.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest digital marketing trends, technologies, and best practices, proactively recommending new strategies and tactics.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
- Represent EDUCAUSE in a professional manner at all times; engages with co-workers, volunteers, and members in a civil, caring, respectful way. Supports the professional development of others in their work to advance the mission and vision of EDUCAUSE.
- Participate in EDUCAUSE events and activities as needed. Travel may be required to support EDUCAUSE conferences/events, research team operations, and external events relevant to the position.
- Act as a departmental liaison with employees, members, volunteers, and volunteer groups.
- Support members in a manner that facilitates their growth, engagement, and enhances their EDUCAUSE experience.
- As a frontline user of EDUCAUSE systems and data services, complies with data quality standards; adhere to data governance policies, procedures, and processes for ensuring data integrity.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field required
- 3–5 years digital marketing experience with a thorough understanding of SEO/SEM and/or AI/AEO required
- Association membership and online and face-to-face conference/event marketing experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, data interpretation, leadership, communication, organizational, and strategic thinking skills preferred
- Exceptional audience management and segmentation skills preferred
- Google Analytics and/or SEO certification preferred
