Our valued client is looking for an Intermediate Deskside Support (on-site) to ensure proper computer operation through problem resolution and hands-on support at the desktop level.
An initial 1 year contract (potential for extension). This is an % on-site position in the west-end of Ottawa
Pay Rate: $28-$34/hr
Tasks include:
Under minimal supervision, ensure proper computer operation through moderately complex activities so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop levelPerform onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users as neededInstall, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software to deliver required desktop service levels. Installs anti-virus software and ensure virus definitions are up to datePerform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications. Collaborate with LAN technicians/network administrators to ensure efficient operation of the company’s desktop computing environmentAssess the need for and implement performance upgrades to PC boxes, including the installation of CPUs, I/O and NIC cards, hard disks, ribbon cables, hard drives, RAM, memory chips, graphics cards and so onAssist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations. Prepares tests and applications for monitoring desktop performance, and then provide performance statistics and reportsMust have:
Eligibility for Controlled Goods ClearancePrior experience delivering hands-on, in-person desktop support within a Microsoft environmentNice to have:
Experience with in the defense industryExperience with Service Now ticketing tool
