5G RAN Verification Engineer

Ericsson is seeking a 5G RAN Verification Engineer. In this role you will help ensure end‑to‑end system quality, validate that our products meet 3

GPP standards and customer requirements, and uphold Ericsson’s high reliability expectations. You will work on real network deployments, conduct system‑level testing, perform root‑cause analysis, and contribute to improving test coverage and automation.

• Contribute to end‑to‑end feature verification and validation of 5G RAN features across real network deployments, influencing whether releases go live.
• Support requirement analysis and feature impact assessments during integration and verification phases.
• Execute system‑level, regression, and stability testing using commercial UE and industry‑standard test tools in lab and pre‑customer environments.
• Perform root‑cause analysis across 5G RAN layers using logs, traces, and protocol analysis.
• Participate in data‑driven quality assessments, identifying key KPIs, counters, and failure patterns that inform release decisions.
• Gain exposure to customer validation, acceptance testing, and field‑trial support.
• Collaborate with RAN development, CI/CD, system integration, and customer project teams to understand large‑scale software delivery.
• Contribute to improvements in test coverage, automation, and verification frameworks.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics & Communication, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 0‑5 years of experience in telecom software development or verification.
• Comfortable working in a Linux environment; command‑line usage and shell scripting.
• Foundational understanding of 5G  wireless communication protocols (MAC, PHY, RLC, PDCP).
• Basic knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, latency, and throughput.
• Strong analytical thinking and a genuine love of debugging and root‑cause analysis.
• A collaborative, team‑first mindset with the ability to work effectively across global, distributed teams.

• Hands‑on experience with test tools such as TM500, QxDM, or Wireshark.
• Exposure to CI/CD workflows or Jenkins pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud‑native concepts, containers, or Kubernetes.
• Interest in how AI/ML is applied to verification, analytics, or fault detection in telecom systems.

Location:

Ottawa, Canada.

Salary range: $85,000 – $111,300.

Short‑Term Variable Compensation Plan: opportunity for an annual bonus based on performance.

Health benefits include three medical and dental plan options. Core level coverage is paid in full by Ericsson.
