Windows Support Engineer

Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid, 12 days on-site per month)
Language: English, strong written and verbal communication skills required
Duration: 1-Year Contract
Background Check Requirement: Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance (must have resided in Canada for a minimum of five years)

We are seeking a Windows Support Engineer to join a high-performing technology team within a large, complex public sector environment. Working alongside experienced infrastructure professionals, developers, and application owners, you will play a key role in maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing Windows server environments across both on‑premises and cloud platforms. • Deploy, maintain, and upgrade Windows server environments across both cloud and on‑premises platforms
• Provide Level 2 technical support for critical applications and infrastructure through Service Now
• Monitor server performance and capacity, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement
• Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting and Infrastructure as Code tools
• Create detailed technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and root cause analyses
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and support project delivery
• Participate in on‑call rotations and provide support during non‑standard business hours as required

• 3+ years of experience supporting critical applications within hybrid infrastructure environments
• University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience administering Windows Server environments, including Windows Server 2016 through 2022
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Group Policy, SCCM, server performance monitoring, and capacity management
• Experience developing and supporting Infrastructure as Code solutions using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Azure
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Power Shell, Python, or Ansible Playbooks
• Strong problem‑solving, prioritization, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills
• Experience with change management practices, Visio diagrams, knowledge transfer sessions, and technical documentation is considered an asset
