Job Summary

  • The purpose of this job is to provide all aspects of Net Backup administration and provide technical guidance and support to Junior L1 Net Backup administrators.
  • This position will also handle escalated incidents and perform root cause analysis of any problems that may arise out of Incident Reports (IRs) and/or proactive needs for business.
Responsibilities
  • Managing and troubleshooting day-to-day backup operations
  • Defines policies and standards for the use of Net Backup.
  • Manages all Net Backup application infrastructure changes (Change & Configuration management).
  • Capacity management for bottlenecks & issues.
  • Ensure quality standards in release.
  • Take care of incidents, escalating to CLIENT or 3rd parties as necessary.
  • Perform root cause analysis for P1/P2/P3 and P4 incidents and/or proactively based on business needs.
  • Work with the right teams within CLIENT or 3rd parties for the implementation of change.
  • Follow the required policies and procedures for the incident, problem and change management.
  • Ensure service performance expectations are met with service levels and quality.
  • Raise/escalate any service-related issues and risks to Track lead and/or CLIENT Track Lead.
  • Knowledgeable about Tape Backups and related troubleshooting methods.
  • Well versed with basics of Operating systems such as Linux, Windows, Solaris etc.
  • Hands-on experience with Tape Libraries and how they are handled.
  • Has knowledge on Tape encryption.
  • Hands-on experience on NDMP Backups and their configuration.
  • Hands-on experience on Net Backup Catalog recovery and its procedures.
  • Knowledgeable about Exchange backups.
  • Hands‑on experience on Net Backup installations, upgrades on all levels (Master Server, Media Server and Clients) on Windows as well as UNIX.
  • Hands‑on experience with troubleshooting on restores.
  • Must have good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • High energy, results driven person with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work under minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate or postgraduate in Technology with Computers or Information Technology (IT) stream.
Preferred Qualifications /Skills
  • Capital Markets Domain knowledge is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), integration across Incident, Problem & Change (IPC) Management.
  • Knowledge about other products like BMC Control‑M (CM), Cross File Transfer (CFT), Connect Direct and Net Backup is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and troubleshooting.
  • Technical and system expertise in relevant IT work-streams.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Advanced troubleshooting, including the ability to delve in more complex issues, which require a deeper understanding of systems and applications.
  • Specialized knowledge in specific areas allowing them to tackle intricate problems.
  • Collaboration with L1 Support to provide guidance and share insights for ongoing issue resolution.
  • Strong problem‑resolving abilities, communication skills (written and verbal), time administration and management, and the team partnership and collaboration.
  • Escalation to L3 Support in timely manner when challenges require an even higher level of expertise and/or experience.
  • Ability to effectively interact with stakeholders in implementation of new functionality and solving problems.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Capability to coordinate and execute projects assigned.
  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and troubleshooting.
Experience
  • Minimum of three plus years of relevant experience.
