Position: Senior Nutanix Migration Specialist/Expert (10+ years) to migrate live VMs from Nutanix AHV to Hyper-V using V2V

Our professional services client is seeking a Nutanix Migration Specialist/Expert (10+ years) to migrate live VMs from Nutanix AHV to Hyper-V using V2V conversion, Power Shell, and Dell infrastructure

This role supports a large-scale infrastructure migration from a legacy Nutanix environment to a new Hyper-V failover cluster with minimal downtime. The project includes planning and design, Dell hardware deployment, Hyper-V cluster configuration, VM migration, and handover activities across a multi-phase implementation. The contractor will work alongside onsite technicians during deployment and configuration activities.

6-8 week contract in Ottawa, ON (% Remote). 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Review existing Nutanix networking and map environments to new Dell topologies
  • Create migration and cutover schedules for VM transition activities
  • Rack, cable, and deploy Dell servers and storage hardware
  • Configure Hyper-V failover clusters, Cluster Shared Volumes, and storage provisioning
  • Perform Nutanix AHV to Hyper-V VM migrations using V2V conversion tools
  • Execute pilot migrations, production cutovers, and data replication activities
  • Conduct failover validation, produce as-built documentation, and complete knowledge transfer sessions

  • 10+ years in Nutanix migrations

    , QEMU command-line tools, Power Shell, and V2V conversion

  • Industry certification in Nutanix

  • Previous experience creating cutover schedules to prevent outages
  • Experience mapping Nutanix environments to Dell topologies
  • Experience running cluster resilience and failure tests
  • Technical documentation and knowledge transfer experience
