Job SummaryAt Sonovision, we deliver high‑quality technical documentation supporting some of the most advanced aerospace and defense programs in the world. We are seeking a Technical Writer with strong expertise in XML/SGML‑based structured authoring, S1000D, and ATA iSpec 2200. Your work will transform complex engineering information into clear, accurate, and compliant technical content used globally.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, revise, and maintain technical documentation in accordance with S1000D (Issue 4.x/5.x), ATA iSpec 2200, ATA 100, and AG‑006 standard
- Author data modules (DMs) using XML/SGML in a structured authoring environment
- Interpret engineering drawings, maintenance procedures, and technical designs to produce accurate, user‑focused documentation
- Ensure compliance with BREX rules, project‑specific business rules, and customer requirements
- Collabore with engineers, technical data managers, and project leads to ensure high‑quality and timely deliverables
- Maintain version control, track changes, and support configuration management activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation processes and internal best practices
- 5+ years of experience authoring XML/SGML‑based technical documentation
- Hands‑on experience producing S1000D‑compliant content, including DMs, DMRLs, and BREX validation
- Experience with structured authoring tools such as Arbortext Editor, Oxygen XML Author, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of aerospace or mechanical/electrical technical domain
- Excellent written communication skills in English
- Familiarity with ATA iSpec 2200 documentation requirements
- Knowledge of ASD‑STE
100 Simplified Technical English (STE) - Experience with CSDB systems such as EAGLE Publishing System, R4i, Tridion Docs, or comparable platform

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a comprehensive background check, which may include verification of previous employment and education, reference checks, and a criminal record check. Additionally, due to the nature of the role, the candidate must successfully complete screening under the Controlled Goods Program and obtain a secret level 2 security clearance.
