The Creative Technologist supports the development of projects involving immersive, interactive, and emerging technologies across INNOVA, the Library, and CRX
. This is a hybrid creation-and-support role for someone who enjoys both hands-on creation and supporting others in developing project ideas.

The role includes technical guidance, prototyping, experimentation with emerging technologies, and the creation of reusable digital resources in support of innovation, experiential learning, and digital capability building.
This role is structured to provide targeted, high-impact support across multiple projects, while ensuring that project teams and participants remain responsible for developing their own ideas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design, development, and prototyping of immersive, interactive, and multimedia
  • project ideas
  • Help assess the technical feasibility of proposed projects and suggest appropriate tools, platforms,
  • and approaches
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and troubleshooting to students, faculty, and staff using
  • CRX-supported technologies
  • Build selected prototypes, proof-of-concepts, demos, or reusable technical resources that help
  • projects move forward
  • Support projects involving technologies such as XR/VR, 360 content, 3D media, interactive tools,
  • digital storytelling, AI-enabled tools, and related creative technologies
  • Help project teams understand technical possibilities, constraints, and implementation options
  • Create shared examples, templates, and resources that can support multiple projects or future
  • Contribute to experimentation with emerging tools, formats, and hardware in a project-based
  • Support internal strategic or demonstration projects, as needed and as capacity allows
  • Collaborate with INNOVA, the Library, and other partners to support project delivery and
  • Other related duties as required
Essential Qualifications
  • Relevant education or demonstrated experience in interactive media, immersive technologies,
  • creative technology, digital production, or a related field
  • Experience using one or more tools related to interactive or immersive production (e.g.,
    Unity,
  • Unreal Engine, WebXR, or similar
    )
  • Experience creating digital content or supporting its creation in areas such as multimedia, 360
  • content, interactive media, 3D assets, or XR/VR materials
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly
  • Ability to assess project ideas and help determine tools, workflows, and level of effort required
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and support users with varying levels of experience
  • Experience troubleshooting digital or creative technology workflows
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary environments
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required
Assets
  • Familiarity with 3D content, spatial media, 360 workflows, interactive storytelling, or XR/VR
Tools
  • Interest in interactive, conversational, or AI-assisted digital experiences
  • Experience with audio/video production, editing, or media development
  • Experience working with emerging tools, immersive displays, or interactive installations
  • Experience in experimental, innovation-focused, or prototyping project contexts
  • Experience in a postsecondary, library, lab, or innovation environment
  • Awareness of accessibility, inclusive design, and user experience principles
  • Interest in both hands-on creation and supporting others in developing their projects

This role supports project development through guidance, prototyping, and selected technical contributions, while ensuring that participants remain responsible for developing their own projects.

Candidates must be comfortable working in a bilingual (French and English) environment.

  • Hourly rate: $40/hour (project and development work)
  • Paid onboarding/training at $20/hour in late August (10–15 hours)
  • Maximum of 350 hours over one year
  • Start date:

    August 24 (training), with active work beginning in mid-September
  • Active period:
    September 2026
    -September 2027, with reduced activity in December and summer months
  • Hours are scheduled flexibly based on project needs
