The Role

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to provide technical leadership across cloud-based applications and enterprise solutions. You will collaborate with development, security, and business teams to drive architecture decisions, support governance and compliance initiatives, and ensure scalable, secure, and reliable solutions from design through production.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Provide software architecture services, including building and enforcing organizational standards, governance, and compliance.
  • Provide solution, security, application, infrastructure, process, enterprise, and data architecture support, as required.
  • Advise on, build, and co-enforce organizational standards, governance, and compliance.
  • Provide application and infrastructure support in collaboration with SMEs.
  • Address product solutions from application architecture through to production system architecture.
  • Provide expertise to development teams regarding code design and technical decisions.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement infrastructure within AWS Cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with the Security Engineer and management on audits, release and change management reviews, and SA&A processes.
  • Collaborate with the TA, or their designated representative, to define effective mechanisms (tools and processes) for managing and making data available when and where required.
  • Perform requirements validation and technical specification reviews.
What You Bring To The Table
  • 5-10 years of experience leading the architecture, design, and development of cloud-based applications as an Application Architect, Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect, or Senior Technical Lead.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud operations (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • 3+ years of experience supporting applications in production environments, including activities related to compliance, security, standards, and IT service management.
  • Currently residing in the Ottawa-Gatineau region and holding, or being eligible to obtain, a Government of Canada Reliability security clearance.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both technical teams and senior-level clients.
  • Knowledge of IAM least-privilege principles, AWS KMS, Guard Duty, and compliance frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of Git deployment strategies, branching models, and automated release workflows.
Additional Skills We Value
  • Advanced experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform and AWS CDK.
  • Experience building event-driven systems using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and Event Bridge.
  • Experience designing centralized logging solutions using Cloud Watch, Open Search, Prometheus, or Datadog.
  • Experience designing multi-region, fault-tolerant systems with automated failover.
  • Active AWS Certified Cloud Ops Engineer certification (or legacy Sys Ops Administrator certification).
