Hourly Wage: $28-$31 per hour based on experience and wordcount output.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified English to French Translator with an active Secret security clearance to join our team. The ideal candidate possesses advanced linguistic competencies, is deeply familiar with the cultural, and has experience in translating sensitive or classified material. You will be responsible for translating a variety of documents, reports, and communications from English into French, ensuring that accuracy, tone, and the context are always maintained.

All translations must be finalized and client ready. This position is based on site at our office, and within a secure facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately translate written content from English to French
• Ensure that your translations maintain the original meaning, tone, and context, while using the accurate and appropriate terminology.
• Conduct research to ensure accurate terminology, contextual understanding, and alignment with client-specific language preferences.
• Work with classified or sensitive government documents in compliance with security protocols.
• Edit and proofread your own translations for grammar, spelling, and clarity.
• Collaborate with project managers, linguists, and subject matter experts to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive materials with discretion.

Required Qualifications:

• Certification as a professional translator (e.g., ATIO, OTTIAQ, or another equivalent association recognised by the CTTIC).
• Possess (or be eligible for) a Government of Canada Secret level security clearance
• Native proficiency in French.
• Ability to translate documents from English into Canadian French with no revision required.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional translation experience.
• Strong knowledge of the terminology used in government, and technical documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with translation tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, or similar).
• Eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a secure environment.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Languages, or related field.
• Knowledge of formatting requirements for classified documentation.

Additional Information:

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Secret level security clearance throughout employment.
• Must be able to work on site, at our secure facility located in Nepean, Ottawa.
