Job Description- Providing interpreting and other support services to deaf and/or hard of hearing students
- Facilitating communication among deaf and/or hard of hearing students and their hearing peers, the classroom teacher and other personnel in the school system
- Offering tutoring and/or note taking services to deaf and/or hard of hearing students when necessary
- Participating in team meetings and assisting the classroom teacher in fostering positive attitudes toward deafness
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
- Secondary school diploma
- A three-year community college diploma in sign language interpreting
- 1.5 years of related experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to establish a rapport and work with individuals on a one-to-one basis
- Initiative and commitment
- Ability to work as a team member
- Individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
- Membership in the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI) and the Ontario Interpreter Services (O.I.S.)
- NVCI, CPR and First Aid
Hourly rate of $36.56 plus 4% vacation pay. The hourly rate effective as of September 1, 2025, is $37.56 an hour.
