As the Supply Chain Operations Prime, this position drives operational strategy, partners closely with cross‑functional teams and suppliers, and enables the successful delivery of innovative products to market.

How

You Will Make An Impact
  • Lead the extended operations team across all product lifecycle phases, including research and development (R&D), new product introduction (NPI), sustaining operations, and end of life (EOL)
  • Partner cross‑functionally with product engineering, capacity planning, test engineering, and other stakeholders to improve yield, cost, and supply assurance
  • Define and execute global supply chain strategies that deliver cost‑optimized, reliable products aligned with business and customer commitments
  • Drive contract manufacturers (CMs) to achieve output plans by resolving constraints related to capacity, yield, quality, and Clear to Build (CTB) readiness
  • Establish and manage safety stock strategies and elevate material risks to Global Commodity Management (GCM) partners to mitigate supply disruptions
  • Generate manufacturing plans and ensure supplier readiness to support new product ramps and sustained volume production
  • Measure supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and lead mitigation strategies to minimize customer impact
The Must Haves
  • 5+ years of experience in operations or supply chain management within a global, multi-site environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in supply planning, manufacturing operations, and supplier management
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and collaborating with product engineering teams
  • Working knowledge of telecommunications technologies and hardware-based product life cycles
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross‑functional and virtual teams without direct authority
  • Strong problem-solving skills in fast‑paced, time-sensitive environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field
Nice To Haves
  • Experience working with outsourced manufacturing and global contract manufacturers
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree
  • Exposure to cost modeling, inventory optimization, and material liability management
  • Experience navigating supply chain disruptions and complex global logistics
  • Comfort working across time zones and supporting off-hours collaboration when required
Pay Range
  • The annual pay range for this position is $110, 100 - $175, 900

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non‑Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
