The Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient procurement of goods and services necessary for the organization's operations. This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end purchasing process, from identifying supplier options to negotiating pricing and finalizing purchase orders. The Buyer works closely with supply chain and inventory teams to optimize cost reduction strategies while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
By leveraging global sourcing and ERP systems, the Buyer ensures that procurement activities align with organizational goals and compliance requirements. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall supply chain effectiveness and supports the company’s competitive advantage in the marketplace.
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Strong knowledge of supply management principles, purchasing processes, and cost reduction techniques.
- Proficiency in ERP and MRP systems for managing purchase orders and inventory control.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Certification in Supply Chain Management or Purchasing (e.g., CPSM, CPP).
- Experience with global sourcing and managing international supplier relationships.
- Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting to support procurement decisions.
- Knowledge of Canadian import/export regulations and compliance standards.
- Experienced in working within AS9100-compliant aerospace quality management systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards and customer requirements.
- Manage the full purchasing cycle including requisition review, supplier selection, negotiation, and purchase order issuance.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and quality compliance of purchased goods.
- Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify cost‑saving opportunities and improve procurement processes.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier communications within ERP and MRP systems.
- Coordinate with supply chain and inventory management teams to forecast demand and optimize stock levels.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
The Buyer utilizes supply management and purchasing process expertise daily to evaluate supplier options and negotiate favorable terms that align with cost reduction goals. Proficiency in ERP and MRP systems is essential for tracking purchase orders, managing inventory levels, and ensuring data accuracy. Global sourcing skills enable the Buyer to identify and engage with international suppliers, expanding the supply base and optimizing costs.
Strong communication and analytical skills facilitate collaboration with internal teams and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and continuous improvement in purchasing operations.
