SUMMER STUDENT POSITION-PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

Full-Time Opportunity (35 hours/week)

Our Property Management team is currently hiring one (1) Summer Student for the summer months to support the Facilities team in maintaining safe, efficient, and well-functioning buildings and grounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role is ideal for a student interested in trades, engineering, construction, or facility operations who is eager to gain hands-on experience with day-to-day building maintenance tasks, such as:

· Assist with routine building maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting, patching, and basic carpentry.

· Support the troubleshooting of building systems (e.g., lighting, doors, plumbing fixtures) under supervision.

· Help maintain building equipment by performing basic cleaning, lubrication, or inspections as directed.

· Conduct daily inspections of common areas, mechanical rooms, and outdoor spaces to identify maintenance needs.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance shops, tools, and storage rooms.

· Assist with setting up rooms, moving furniture, and supporting workplace reconfigurations.

· Help with outdoor maintenance such as lawn care, watering, weeding, sweeping walkways, and waste removal.

· Support seasonal tasks (e.g., exterior cleaning, painting, minor landscaping).

· Follow all safety procedures, wear proper PPE, and report hazards promptly.

· Maintain accurate logs of tasks completed using provided checklists or digital systems.

· Support inventory management for tools, materials, and supplies.

REQUIREMENTS &

COMPETENCIES:

· Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and returning to school in the fall.

· Interest in maintenance, trades, or facilities operations (no prior experience required training provided).

· Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors.

· Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hands-on skills.

· Strong work ethic, reliability, and comfort working both independently and as part of a team.

· Good communication skills and commitment to safety.

· Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, staff and community professionals.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to respond to competing demands.

· Valid Driver’s License and access or ownership to a vehicle is an asset.

· Satisfactory Police Record Check is required upon hire.

·
Ladder Safety Training required upon hire.

· Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset; all languages are an asset.

· Experience with hand tools or basic repair tasks is an asset.

· Coursework or personal interest in skilled trades (e.g., electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing) is an asset.

We offer a competitive salary rate of $19.24 per hour plus an additional 6% in lieu of insurable benefits and 5% of vacation pay. All successful candidates will benefit from an innovative training program, quality supervision and recognition of contributions.
