Job Summary
We are currently looking for Senior BAS Technicians to join our growing Ottawa BAS team. The individual would be working with our project team and would report directly to the BAS Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Lead onsite BAS installation, commissioning, and startup activities for construction projects
- Execute project scope in accordance with drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, and schedules
- Coordinate daily field activities with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other trades
- Identify constructability issues, field variances, and technical risks and communicate solutions proactively
- Support project closeout activities, including verification, documentation, and customer turnover
- Show an understanding of HVAC and DDC fundamentals, as well as Schneider Electric (Trane, Siemens, Automated Logic or other BACnet) BAS product portfolio and end devices
- Complete Schneider Electric product‑specific training prior to factory training
- Demonstrate working knowledge of BAS networking and system integration
- 7+ years of progressive experience in BAS installation, commissioning, or construction environments
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and control strategies (AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, etc.)
- Proven experience programming and commissioning BAS controllers and supervisory systems
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, and network diagrams
- Direct experience with Schneider Electric Eco Struxure Building Operation (EBO) considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured by Ainsworth
- Pass security screening as required by Ainsworth’s government clients and/or must be bondable; reliability clearance an asset
- Fluent in English – both written and oral; fluent in French is a definite asset; ability to read and understand construction plans and specs and product documentation; graduate of post‑secondary technical or engineering program
- Fluent in Microsoft Office, including Visio or scripted programming language
- Medium physical duties, ability to stand for long periods in a construction environment, ability to climb ladders and work from heights (with fall arrest protection provided)
- Some travel may be requested from time to time;
Ainsworth will reimburse travel expenses including mileage for driving
The pay range is $36.00 - $50.00 per hour. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data. The base salary is just one component of Ainsworth’s total compensation package, which also includes additional rewards and benefits such as health insurance, among others.
