BAS Designer
Job Summary
BAS Designer is an entry level position geared for recent graduates of technical programs or individuals new to the building automation and controls industry. The individual will be assisting the BAS group with entry level tasks determined by the hiring manager and may be making career changes from construction trades. The individual will begin their career at AINSWORTH in the BAS Departments of Engineering under continuous supervision while working as a Building Automation System Designer.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the BAS group with entry level tasks determined by the hiring manager.
- Assist with project and service group documentation and sales proposals.
- Learn and demonstrate a thorough understanding of Ainsworth’s H&S Policy.
- Show willingness to learn HVAC, DDC and pneumatic fundamentals, as well as Schneider Electric BAS product portfolio as implemented by Ainsworth.
- Complete relevant online courses and training, including:
- Fan systems; air handling unit systems; variable volume, constant volume
- Variable Air Volume Boxes;
Fan powered boxes - Heating and cooling systems; boilers, chillers
- Schneider University Courses: BAS and Control 1 through 8.
- Engage in learning opportunities both in office and on-site.
- Four‑year college/university degree, two‑year/three‑year post‑secondary engineering technology or applied science program, or equivalent trade/field experience and eligible for registration with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by Ainsworth; some travel may be requested. Ainsworth will reimburse travel expenses including mileage.
- Pass security screening as required by Ainsworth’s clients.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Fluent in English – both written and oral. Ability to read and understand construction plans, specs and product documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Visio or Script programming software.
- Willingness to work in an office environment and keep work area clean and tidy; light physical duties may be assigned.
- Ability to perform routine tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Pay range: $20.00 to $30.00 per hour. Base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which also includes additional rewards, benefits and health insurance.
