System Integration Specialist Intern

8-month work term:
September 2026 – April 2027

12-month work term:
September 2026 – August 2027

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to validation of end-to-end optical networking solutions within Ciena’s Optical Platform Systems organization.

• Conduct system‑level testing using Python automation scripts and manual execution methods
• Install and provision optical systems within a lab environment
• Troubleshoot system‑level issues identified during testing activities
• Collaborate with System Architects to analyze and determine root causes of system behavior
• Execute validation activities using optical and electrical test equipment

Must haves:

• Working toward completion of a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
• Experience applying Linux in academic or project‑based environments
• Utilization of Python programming for automation or testing tasks

Nice to haves:

• Experience applying lab‑based testing environments
• Exposure to fiber optics and optical networking concepts

Pay Range:
The hourly pay range for this position is $25 to $32. Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
