This role is heavily centered on advanced 3D CAD surfacing and manufacturable geometry development for high‑performance products used in demanding real‑world environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming complex concepts into production‑ready components that meet strict performance, safety, and fabrication requirements.
Key Responsibilities Surface Modeling & Geometry Development- Develop complex 3D surface models for large‑scale water slide components and assemblies
- Create high‑quality continuous surfaces suitable (A‑class or equivalent) for fiberglass/composite manufacturing
- Refine complex transitions, continuous pathways, and freeform geometry
- Ensure surface continuity, alignment, and manufacturability across multi‑part assemblies
- Design components with a strong understanding of fiberglass/composite manufacturing processes
- Incorporate manufacturability considerations including draft angles, flange design, part splitting, tooling, and mold requirements
- Collaborate with fabrication and manufacturing teams to optimize production efficiency and assembly quality
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical data packages
- Maintain organized design documentation and revision control within PDM systems
- Support engineering change processes and design release activities
- Participate throughout the full product development lifecycle from concept through installation
- Support prototype testing, validation activities, and performance analysis
- Analyze test results and implement continuous design improvements
- Participate in technical reviews focused on performance, manufacturability, and safety
- Support on‑site installation and product verification activities as required
- Ensure manufactured products meet design intent and operational requirements
- Travel occasionally to customer or installation sites (up to 15%)
- 5+ years of experience in product design with strong 3D CAD surfacing expertise
- Advanced proficiency with SOLIDWORKS surfacing tools or equivalent CAD surfacing software
- Experience creating complex, non‑prismatic geometry and large assemblies
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and drafting standards
- Strong understanding of how designs transition from CAD to manufacturing
- Experience producing production‑ready drawings and documentation
- Familiarity with molds, tooling, and fabrication processes
- Experience working with large‑scale engineered products or structures
- Hands‑on experience with prototyping, testing, and validation
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods for composites or formed structures
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- High attention to geometric detail and design quality
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced product development environment
- Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
- Willingness to participate in hands‑on testing and field support activities
