Manufacturing Associate II – Fabrication Operator (Afternoon Shift)

Located at KML Windows Inc., a division of Andersen Corporation. This new position involves training and working/rotating through Customs, Moulder and Toolroom positions, with responsibilities of ensuring proper machining, tooling, and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Work safely and follow all safety practices, including ensuring co‑workers do the same.
  • Follow procedures, standard work, control plans, product specifications, and clean‑up times.
  • Operate equipment safely and productively, setting up, measuring, cleaning tools and cutters, and maintaining sharp tooling.
  • Load and adjust programs into the computer/machines for operation of the machine.
  • Determine proper machining methods with the toolroom/molder operator and provide input on machine utilization.
  • Maintain machines to ensure they operate properly.
  • Learn, understand, and implement Andersen Management Systems (AMS) and CI concepts.
  • Participate in defining and improving standard work.
  • Support and participate in employee engagement activities.
  • Work to an established rate as defined by customer demand and standardized work.
  • Engage in cross‑training to maintain flexibility and adaptability for resource planning.
  • Identify problems and communicate issues to Work Center Leads and Supervisors.
  • Assist with training co‑workers.
  • Support a respectful workplace.
  • Perform other duties across the plant as directed by supervision or management.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
  • Solid knowledge of woodworking practices, standard tooling concepts, and machining techniques.
  • Understanding of general wood router concepts: speeds, feeds, material removal.
  • Ability to read shop drawings, prepare tooling or machine new knives for set runs.
  • Knowledge of buffer sheets and basic computer operations and keyboarding.
  • Proven ability to understand and adhere to documented process controls (SWDs, JBAs, CPs).
  • Ability to read and understand reports and a willingness to cross‑train on several operations.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, problem‑solving, and leadership skills; ability to take direction and follow instructions.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Independent, dependable, punctual, with a positive attitude and effective interaction with other departments.
Shift and Pay

Shift: 1 Opening – Afternoons (Monday – Thursday, 10‑hour shifts – 4:00pm – 2:30am). Wage Range: $26.08 – $27.95.
