Location

Remote, EST hours required;
If located in Ottawa, opportunity to be in the office 1 to 2 days a week, with required presence at one all-staff meeting once a month and one annual staff retreat.

Our client, a respected national non-profit organization within the postsecondary and research sector, is seeking a bilingual Communications Officer to help bring their mission to life. This is an opportunity to support a vibrant community of academics, researchers, and institutions by delivering impactful communications that elevate important conversations across Canada.

In this role, you will collaborate with a passionate and high-performing team to shape how ideas are shared, events are promoted, and stories are told. Your Responsibilities
  • Lead the execution of communications plans supporting major events, programs, and organizational initiatives
  • Craft compelling content including announcements, social media, email campaigns, and website copy in both English and French
  • Develop marketing materials for diverse audiences, including members, partners, and policymakers
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and creative partners
  • Coordinate advertising, sponsorship visibility, and communications with partner institutions
  • Support brand consistency across all channels, including digital platforms and event materials
Skills and Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in communications or marketing
  • Exceptional bilingual writing and editing skills in English and French
  • Strong understanding of digital communications tools, CMS platforms, and design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
  • Experience building relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and partners
  • Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, accountability, and attention to detail, combined with a proactive attitude and enthusiasm for delivering high‑quality results
