Position: Bilingual Communications Advisor/ Conseiller/conseillère en communications bilingue

Primary Focus

The Bilingual Communications Advisor plays a key role in driving clear, creative, and high-impact communications across Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) and the Canadian Wood Council (CWC), supporting a shared services model that serves both organizations.

Combining strong project management, operational coordination, and content development skills, this role helps bring major communications products to life — from the Annual Report and executive briefings to newsletters, stakeholder communications, digital content, and media and issues monitoring.

At its core, this position is about making the communications function sharper, faster, and more effective. The Advisor will help streamline processes, embrace AI‑enabled tools, and support the timely execution of priority initiatives while ensuring public-facing materials are polished, accurate, and compelling in both French and English.

Specific Accountabilities Project Management & Coordination
  • Lead and coordinate key communications projects, including major reports, awards programs, and campaigns
  • Manage timelines, approvals, and workflow across multiple stakeholders
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality outputs across all brands
  • Support executive briefings and board-level communications materials
Bilingual Communications (French & English)
  • Draft, edit, and translate communications materials in both official languages
  • Ensure accuracy, tone alignment, and quality across all public-facing content
  • Support media, stakeholder, and public-facing communications in French and English
Content Development & Channels
  • Develop and manage newsletters, including planning, drafting, and audience list management
  • Contribute to internal and external communications products (e.g., briefings, reports, announcements)
  • Assist with social media planning, drafting, and analytics where needed
Operations & Process Excellence
  • Coordinate translation processes and vendor relationships
  • Support communications team operations with a focus on efficiency and consistency
  • Monitor media coverage and analytics
  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., Copilot) to streamline workflows
Stakeholder & Organizational Support
  • Support stakeholder outreach and engagement activities
  • Contribute to integrated communications across multiple brands and audiences
  • Provide flexible support to evolving team priorities and initiatives
Qualifications (Required)
  • Strong bilingual communication skills in French and English, including writing and editing, with French proficiency at the C level or equivalent
  • Parliamentary experience or strong knowledge of the federal government environment
  • Experience in project management and team support
  • Strong written, visual, and digital communications skills
  • Experience using Copilot or other AI tools to support efficient workflows
  • Curious, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ottawa-based, with ability to work in office a minimum of 2 days per week
  • 2-3 years of professional work experience
Qualifications (Preferred)
  • Experience with communications platforms such as Word Press, Webflow, Mailchimp, InDesign, or similar tools
  • Media relations or media monitoring experience
  • Experience supporting executive, board, government, or stakeholder communications
