Responsibilities
- Manage NAFC’s social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement
- Monitor and track media coverage and trends related to NAFC’s services and provide regular reports and analysis
- Coordinate public relations activities, including building and maintaining relationships with community members and relevant stakeholders
- Organize and support the planning and execution of events, campaigns and conferences
- Maintain NAFC’s website, ensuring everything is up to date, engaging, and accessible
- Stay up to date with the latest communication trends and technologies
- Seek opportunities to enhance NAFC’s reputation and propose innovative ideas for enhancing NAFC’s communication strategies
- Bachelor's Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field
- 2-3 years of proven experience in communications, public relations, or a related role, preferably within the non-profit sector
- Must be able to work in both official languages
- Strong understanding of Indigenous history and culture
- Knowledge of desktop publishing software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver key messages to a diverse audience
- Proficiency in creating content for digital and traditional media platforms
- Experience in managing social media platforms and utilizing social media management tools
- Familiarity with website management and content management systems (CMS)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders
- Fluency in an Indigenous language is also an asset
