Marketing Coordinator

At the Assunnah Muslims Association (AMA), our work is centered on faith and community. Our mandate is to support the Muslim community in Ottawa by providing a place of worship and fostering spiritual, social, and moral development. We are a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and board members committed to serving our community with excellence and compassion.

We are seeking a proactive and creative Marketing Coordinator to own and execute the marketing and communications strategy for the AMA. This individual will play a key role in shaping the public face of our organization, ensuring a consistent and professional brand identity, and promoting our programs to the diverse communities we serve. The ideal candidate is a passionate storyteller and a skilled content creator who understands how to elevate an organization’s presence through impactful marketing.

Terms: Full-Time

• Content Creation & Design
• Design all marketing materials, including high-quality posters, graphics, social media content, and flyers for AMA programs.
• Produce creative short-form video content (e.g., Reels, You Tube Shorts) featuring AMA leaders, staff, volunteers, guests, and events.
• Source and organize photos and other media for use in marketing materials.
• Brand & Strategy Management
• Serve as the primary steward of the AMA brand, developing and maintaining brand guidelines to ensure a consistent and professional identity across all platforms and communication.
• Track, analyze, and report on key marketing metrics (e.g., social media engagement, website traffic) to measure campaign effectiveness and guide future strategy.
• Lead the design, copyediting, and coordination of the AMA Annual Report.
• Formalize MARCOM policies and provide brand training to volunteers to ensure consistency.
• Manage all social media channels, including posting content and responding to messages in a timely manner.
• Manage the AMA’s newsletter, including design, scheduling, and content gathering.
• Support content editing and updates for the AMA websites.
• Event Promotion & Media Coverage
• Attend key events (e.g., Friday prayers, Ramadan, Eid) to capture photo and video content for promotional use.
• Collaborate with committee leads to develop and execute marketing plans for major events and special campaigns like Ramadan and the Eid Festival.
• Coordinate with staff and volunteers to ensure full media coverage for events.

• Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, etc.)
• Experience in graphic design, social media content creation, and video production.
• Proficiency with design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and camera equipment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Organized and able to plan content around busy program schedules.
• Familiarity with Islamic organizations, the Ottawa Muslim community, Assunnah Muslims Association, or other non-profit communities is a strong asset.
• Passionate about elevating an organization’s presence through creative and impactful marketing.
• Post-secondary education in marketing or a related field is a strong asset.
