The Public Relations (PR) and Community Manager is responsible for building Bushbalm's reputation and visibility through earned media, brand moments, and an engaged social community. This role cultivates relationships with editors and journalists, pitches compelling stories, manages the PR agency, and creates press-worthy moments that get people talking about Bushbalm. The role also leads the social media team and owns the social strategy, ensuring that PR, social, and community work together to tell one consistent brand story.

The ideal candidate is a natural storyteller and relationship builder with a strong media network, sharp creative instincts, and experience leading a team.

The role is a new role. It will be reporting directly to the VP of Brand Strategy & Communications.

The starting salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 CAD.

• Lead Bushbalm’s PR and media relations, building relationships with key media contacts and developing stories that secure meaningful coverage.
• Manage the PR agency, including priorities, plans, materials, budgets, and performance.
• Plan and execute brand events, launches, collaborations, and gifting programs that generate media coverage and social engagement.
• Own social media strategy, content direction, and channel priorities, keeping content aligned with Bushbalm’s brand and campaigns.
• Lead and develop the social media team, overseeing content calendars, approvals, and publishing.
• Build an engaged online community, oversee community responses, and manage brand reputation and crisis communications in partnership with leadership.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align PR and social media plans with product launches and brand initiatives.
• Manage PR and social media budgets, track performance, and share insights and recommendations to improve results.

• 5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or social media, ideally within beauty, wellness, fashion, or lifestyle brands
• An established network of beauty and lifestyle media contacts, with a proven record of securing top-tier coverage
• Experience developing and executing social media strategy for a consumer brand
• 2+ years of experience managing a team, and experience managing a PR agency
• Strong storytelling, writing, and pitching skills
• Experience planning brand activations, events, or press moments from concept to execution
• Experience with media monitoring, social listening, and social analytics tools
• Calm, sound judgment in fast-moving or sensitive situations
