Days, 7.5-hour shifts (subject to change) Wage Range: $32.14/hr (minimum) to $38.95/hr (maximum) Closing Date: JUNE 8, 2026 About the Role

As a member of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHSS) Team the role of the OHSS Support Nurse at QCH is to deliver safe, quality, evidence-based support to the OHSS team and it’s mandate to provide on-site occupational health services to promote the health, wellness, and safety of individual workers and the workplace. Working as part of multidisciplinary, cohesive healthcare team to promote the wellbeing of workers, the Support Nurse maintains professional competence and is accountable for ongoing practice-relevant professional training and learning.

The support nurse brings excellent patient assessment, critical thinking, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities
  • Operates a clinic with booked visits and walk-ins
  • Provide first aid and or follow-up in the event of employee injury at work
  • Carries out employee accident and injury report follow up
  • Conducts and monitors all initial health assessments (onboarding) and required immunization for new hires
  • Provide support to the Occupational Health RN on exposure and outbreak management
  • Provide support to the Occupational Health RN for medical surveillance programs as required
  • Provide support for wellness and health promotion initiatives
  • Accountable for scope of practice and knowledge of when to seek and collaborate with RN
  • Communicates with stakeholders such as OHSS, Pharmacy, Communications, etc., to plan annual flu campaign
  • Provides immunizations as required
Requirements
  • College Diploma in Practical Nursing from a recognized program
  • Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years recent RPN experience with 1 year working in occupational health (work or educational related)
  • Current BCLS
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand, interpret and carry out verbal and written instructions in the English language
  • Ability to work effectively within the nursing and inter-professional team
  • Demonstrated computer competency
  • Adheres to all College of Nurses Professional Standards and Guidelines
  • Knowledge of Professional Guidelines and Standards of Practice:
    Canadian Immunization Standards and vaccine schedules
  • College of Nurses Professional Standards and Guidelines
  • Personal Health Information Protection Act
  • Consent to Treatment Act
  • Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
  • Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Ministry of Labour guidelines
Preferred
  • College certificate in Occupational Health Nursing or a university diploma in Occupational Health Nursing
