Position Summary
The nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients and families.
Responsibilities- Effectively uses the nursing process
- Practices according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit
- Provides appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family to promote or maintain wellness and to achieve an optimal quality of life
- Is accountable for maintaining competence while developing the quality of his or her professional nursing practice
- Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
- Current CPR Certification (Essential)
- Experience with the paediatric population (minimum 2 years) (Essential)
- Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential)
- Demonstrated strong family‑centered care skills (Essential)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (Essential)
- Evidence of self‑motivation, enthusiasm, and flexibility (Essential)
- Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
- Bilingual (English/French) (Preferred)
- Will be represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU)
Pay Range: $30.41–$37.35 per hour.
Location:
Ottawa, Canada (may be subject to change at the discretion of the employer).
The position requires a comprehensive pre‑screening and evaluation process that may include written tests, practical exams, or other assessments for candidates meeting essential and preferred qualifications.
Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated through a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third‑party provider. Candidates must meet the minimum linguistic profile before the date of hire.
All OPSEU members shall be granted an interview upon passing the pre‑screening. The pre‑screening may include testing.
