About the RoleCentretown CHC has a casual opportunity for Nurse Practitioner in our Integrated Health Services team. Join a dynamic group of health care professionals providing a full spectrum of primary health care in a community health centre located in downtown Ottawa. Our interdisciplinary team includes other nurse practitioners, family physicians, registered nurses, medical receptionists, diabetes educators, social workers, community support workers, and other health care professionals.
The Nurse Practitioner provides primary health care services with strong emphasis on disease prevention, health promotion and chronic disease management for clients across the lifespan within a cohesive provider team of other nurse practitioners and family physicians. This position will also be scheduled for some same day access clinics and may be cross trained to provide coverage to different clinics geared towards serving the Centre’s priority populations.
RequirementsMaster’s degree in Nursing.
Registration in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Minimum two years experience as a Nurse Practitioner, RN (EC) in a community primary care setting, including working with clients throughout the life cycle and across the wellness-to-illness continuum.
Knowledge of and commitment to community-based health care.
Significant expertise in supporting people with complex mental health and addiction issues.
Demonstrated ability to apply a harm reduction approach to care.
Knowledge of and ability to work effectively with diverse populations applying a health equity, anti-racism and anti-oppression lens.
Ability to work effectively, independently and in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
Strong clinical assessment skills.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Interest and/or experience in supervising and working with medical learners.
Proficient with Windows-based computer systems, in particular email and MS Word.
Availability required: weekdays, rotating evening shifts, and occasional weekends.
Experience with PS Suite.
CHC experience.
Ability to communicate in French is preferred.
Language Designation
English, written and spoken.
