CHEO is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to provide specialized care for patients transitioning to insulin pump therapy. This role focuses on family education, counseling, and team collaboration.
In this independent position, you will assess, plan, and implement nursing care for individuals with type 1 diabetes. As part of the Diabetes team, you will engage with patients and families, ensuring evidence-based practices are consistently applied. Your responsibilities will also include extensive education for families and healthcare professionals to enhance understanding of diabetes management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Guide families in the insulin pump program
• Offer telephone counseling for patient inquiries
• Provide comprehensive teaching for families and staff
• Participate in clinical activities and research initiatives
• Develop electronic resources for diabetes education
Requirements:
• Vulnerable Sector Check
• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Bilingual in English and French
• BScN (current or in progress)
• Minimum two years in diabetes pediatric care
