This position is for the Care Clinic within the Palliative Care Program - specialized management/treatment of patients with complication of illness and its treatments: including fluid around the lungs and abdomen. Option for cross training to palliative care consult team. Rotation to another campus may be required (The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre General, Civic Campus and Irving Greenberg Family Centre).

Days, 8 and 12 hour shifts.

• Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
• Minimum of five (5) years Palliative Care or Oncology experience;
• Minimum of one (1) year experience working in a specialist palliative care setting;
• Minimum of one (1) year practicing nursing in a consultant capacity;
• Expert assessment skills
• Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the principles and practices of palliative care and the ability to apply these successfully in a clinical setting;
• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats with patients, families, public, staff and other health disciplines;
• Demonstrates the ability to teach in an individual basis and in group settings;
• Demonstrates ability to work independently and to prioritize and organize workload;
• Demonstrates the ability to provide continuity of care across care settings with knowledge of community resources in palliative and oncology care;
• Demonstrates ability to respond to rapidly changing clinical situations
• Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively as an active member of a multidisciplinary health care team;
• Demonstrates organizational skills and the ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate care systems to enhance care of palliative patients;
• Demonstrates leadership ability.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada

• BScN in nursing;
• Completion of formal education in Palliative Care;
• Hospice Palliative Care nursing certification;
• Oncology certification.
