Position Information

About The Ottawa Hospital ICU

The Intensive Care Units at The Ottawa Hospital, located at the Civic and General Campus, care for complex medical and surgical patients. The ICU at the Civic campus is a 33+ bed unit and is the regional trauma, neurosurgery and vascular center. The ICU at the General Campus is a 32+ bed unit providing tertiary acute care for complex medical, surgical and cancer care patients.

Both units offer a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to ensure patient and family-centered care using evidence-informed practice. In this environment, you will care for patients with the assistance of a multidisciplinary team.

Rotation/Shifts

Days, evenings and nights, including weekends, 12 hour shifts.

What You Will Bring
  • Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Minimum six (6) months recent adult ICU experience;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and willingness to actively participate in departmental educational activities;
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this process to the practice of Nursing;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient teaching;
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as an active member of the health care team;
  • Demonstrates the professional and respectful attitude to patients, the public and colleagues.;
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
You will stand out with
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing;
  • Post-graduate studies;
  • CNA certification in Critical Care;
  • Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced).

The Ottawa Hospital uses a 5-level language proficiency scale to define the required level of language skills in English and in French for positions at the Hospital, and to evaluate job candidate language skills.
