Psychiatric Inpatient Registered Nurse

Support psychiatric inpatient care at The Ottawa Hospital using crisis intervention expertise and comprehensive nursing assessment skills. Shifts include days, nights, weekends, and 12-hour rotations.

This Registered Nurse position serves a specialized hospital environment within The Ottawa Hospital’s learning and research system. Candidates need recent acute-care psychiatry experience, effective communication, and knowledge of relevant legislation. The work includes referrals, documentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and emergency judgment.

• Assess, plan, prioritize, organize, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Apply crisis intervention techniques in acute psychiatry settings
• Make effective referrals using community resource knowledge
• Communicate with departments, police officers, and community partners
• Document information thoroughly using personal computers

• Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Three months of recent acute-care psychiatry experience
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and crisis intervention techniques
• Ability to work autonomously and within interdisciplinary teams
• Eligibility to work in Canada
