About Us:Claire Place is a mobile veterinary service dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care for companion animals in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. We specialize in hospice and palliative care as well as gentle in-home euthanasia, ensuring pets spend their final moments in a familiar and comforting environment. Our mission is to support families through this difficult time with empathy, professionalism, and respect, offering guidance and care tailored to each pet’s unique needs.
Position Overview:We are seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to work on a casual to part-time basis, requiring a minimum of one weekday shift. Preference will be given to applicants with consistent availability. Potential for full-time hours. You will work with a veterinarian in clients' homes to provide end-of-life care in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.
Key Responsibilities:- Attend appointments alongside the veterinarian
- Assist the DVM with patient care and handling
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and drug logs
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with clients
- Continuing education on hospice, palliation and end-of-life care is encouraged
- Assist with euthanasia appointments
- Provide patient care and transport post euthanasia
- Sedation preparation and administration
Skills Required:
- Veterinary Technician Diploma
- 3+ years of experience as a veterinary technician
- Valid driver’s licence
- Own reliable vehicle capable of accommodating large dogs/stretchers
- Proficiency with AI-assisted medical records
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25kg
- Comfortable working both independently and within a team
- Availability for some evening and weekend shifts
- Compassionate and caring
- Independent thinker with strong teamwork skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proactive, flexible, and innovative approach to patient care
- Ambition and enthusiasm for advancing end-of-life services
- Bilingualism is an asset
