Quality Inspector

The overall role of the Quality Inspector is to inspect electronic assemblies and mechanical assemblies by visual, automated and X-Raymeans for conformity to IPC-A-610 workmanship standards and internal quality workmanship standards. Record and collect various workmanship defect data and metrics and to help drive corrective actions as appropriate.

• Perform incoming, in-process, first article and final inspections on electronic assemblies, sub-assemblies and finished products to determine conformance with applicable drawing specifications, IPC-A-610 workmanship standards, and internal quality workmanship standards; and record inspection status on applicable quality control (QC) records by paper or electronic means as required.
• Review test reports, compliance documentation and first article inspection reports for accuracy and completeness. Reconcile errors and clarifications in conjunction with the purchasing team and technical support staff.
• Complete visual inspection using microscopes, magnifiers, and video scopes.
• Complete X-Ray inspection of product as required and specified.
• Complete Automated Inspection using Automated Optical Inspection Equipment.
• Verify critical product conformity measurements using tools and instruments such as calipers, micrometers, jigs, and rulers.
• Complete accurate QC records (on paper and by electronics means) to provide results and feedback.
• Follow written instructions presented in paper or electronic format for the inspection and verification of products.
• Complete Non-conforming Material Reports (NCMRs) for materials that do not meet specifications.
• Work closely with technical support and purchasing staff to reconcile and close NCMRs.
• Provide input for inspection methods and improvements related to the job.
• Assist quality and engineering teams in investigations of process-related quality issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Requires flexibility and understanding that all staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Company.

• High School Diploma.
• Experience inspecting circuit boards for acceptability using IPC-A-610 standard using visual or automated means is an asset.
• Strong ability to read and interpret instructions and drawings.
• Ability to work closely with a team of operators, assemblers and other inspectors.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610, Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies.
• Must be able to read, understand and interpret written and/or verbal instructions and have good communication skills in English.
• Ability to deal with changing priorities daily.
• Ability to work using a microscope for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work at standing operations for an extended period.

• Shift work on evenings as required.
• Seated with continuous use of a microscope.
• Moderate exposure to machinery and chemical risks is anticipated.

• Detailed work, requiring continuous fine motor skills and repetitive motion.
• Lifting of a minimum of 15 lbs. is required. Lifting is generally at or below 30 lbs. without significant repetitions.
